Speedway Police Department
The Speedway Police Department is currently accepting pre-applications for the position of Merit Police Officer. The Department is interested in establishing an eligibility list to fill future anticipated openings. Because the Speedway Police Department normally has more applicants than there are positions available, a competitive application process has been established. This pre-application process is designed to ensure that the selection of new recruits will be accomplished in a fair and objective fashion.
The position of merit officer will be offered to the best candidate(s) who are successful in the following testing areas: a written exam, to be held on June 3rd, 2017; an oral interview, conducted the week of July 10, 2017; and a physical agility assessment and Chief’s interview, to be held in early August of 2017.
Eligible applicants will be between the ages of 21-35 at the time of appointment, with a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency. Speedway Police Department offers a competitive wages and benefits package. Starting salary is $47,509, increasing to $61,605 after two years of successful employment. ILEA graduates are encouraged to apply.
